fresh modern

This is my family’s personal home, originally built in 2006 with Mediterranean and Tuscan influences. Our vision was to bring in a fresh, soft modern feel while balancing the realities of living in the home during renovation.

We added new cabinetry, natural quartzite countertops, a Sub-Zero refrigerator with sleek modern appeal, updated lighting, and made slight footprint adjustments to improve functionality. We also removed a built-in banquette, which opened up the breakfast area and made it feel more spacious and inviting. Since removing the heavy wall texture throughout the home wasn’t practical, we compromised with flat wall paint to soften its presence.

These updates breathed new life into our home—making the heart of it more functional, refined, and truly reflective of how we live today.

This project proves that even as designers, we face the same tough choices as our clients—balancing priorities, making compromises, and still achieving a result that feels fresh, functional, and beautiful. Living through the process myself has given me even greater empathy and insight to help clients navigate their own remodels with confidence.
