FAQs

  • The short answer: as early as possible. Once you’ve established your project team—your interior designer, architect, builder, and other key professionals—it’s ideal to start with a shared vision from day one. We recommend an initial project kick-off meeting so everyone is aligned on the design, timeline, and goals.

Whether you’re planning a home remodel, a luxury new build, or a full-scale renovation, Lane Home Design can guide the process from the start for a seamless experience. And if your project is already underway, we’re happy to jump in at any stage to bring clarity, cohesion, and elevated style to your space.

  • After you’ve submitted an online inquiry, we will start with a short phone call discussion to quickly determine the high level scope of your project and if we are a fit – we’ll get on the same page from the start. From there, we move to the next step of an in-home consultation.

  • Planning and making decisions for a home renovation or new build can feel overwhelming. At Lane Home Design, our goal is to remove the stress so you feel confident in your investment and the choices you make. Using our proven design process, we guide you through each step—making it structured, seamless, while still having fun!

We keep communication open and honest, acting as your advocate from start to finish. We also encourage you to explore design elements just outside your comfort zone, while ensuring every detail aligns with your style and desired outcome. It’s that thoughtful balance of timeless design and adventurous touches that makes partnering with Lane Home Design so rewarding.

  • We ask that anyone involved in the decision-making process join our initial meeting. We’d love to see some inspirational photos as well. This is the time to bring your list of burning questions or let us know if you’re stumped in a certain area. Also, it’s important to think about your desired timeframe for your project, so that we can help set realistic goals.

  • Absolutely. During the Design Phase, we work closely with you to establish a clear investment range that aligns with your vision and priorities. This stage includes collaboration with contractors, builders, and trade professionals to create a projected budget based on the level of quality and craftsmanship we’ve discussed. Once the full project team has met, you’ll receive more detailed budget information from Lane Home Design, your architect, and your builder—ensuring every decision supports the results you want to achieve.

  • The timeline for the design process depends on the type of project and the scope of work. We begin with a Discovery Call to discuss your vision, goals, and overall direction. From there, an In-Home Consultation allows us to refine the scope, outline your priorities, and identify where to focus your investment for the greatest impact. You’ll receive a tailored consultation report to guide the next steps.

If you choose to move forward, we enter the Design Planning Phase. This includes on-site planning, preliminary drawings, collaboration with contractors and trades, and a comprehensive budget for labor, fixtures, and finishes. This stage ensures every decision is intentional, informed, and aligned with your vision before construction begins.

Depending on the project scale and level of customization, the design process can range from several weeks to a few months, allowing us to deliver a result that is both timeless and uniquely yours.
